PRESIDENT’S SPECIAL — ?
(Since the website is public, please refer to the Member Directory for email addresses)
See the competition rules document on the for further details
This year, I decided to approach presidents special a little different – since our annual meeting fell the day after the NCAA Men’s Final and on Election Day, I decided to host a bracket where members got to pick the topic.
Our President’s Special Final Four was:
After Round 1 – Macro/Close-Up & Long Exposure came out victorious.
In the end – the winner and this year’s president special is: Macro/Close-Up
Why did I add the Arthropod/Plant restriction?
I wanted the club members to step out outside the box and get creative. If you google “Macro Photography” you will notice almost all of the images are of insects/spiders and flowers.
I also noticed this trend on Flickr – the trend continued on the largest Macro group. https://www.flickr.com/groups/49503086607@N01/
I then found a Flickr group which had restriction and I really like the diversity of images compared to the traditional macro groups – so I decided to add the same restrictions to president’s special. https://www.flickr.com/groups/macro_noflower_noinsect/
Here are just a few website I found that provide useful information:
Happy Shooting and good luck!
Congratulations to Gail Chastain and Crystal Johnson for the winning images. (First three across in gallery below)
The Challenge Continues
This year the competition is between Quad Cities Photography Club and Peoria Camera Club.
The Bloomington KodaRoamers club is the host and has chosen “Shadows” as the theme.
PCC has won two of the previous three competitions.
We need your images to win again.
Get out there and take images for this competition.
Here are the rules:
- “Shadow” images can be anything that exhibits or implies Shadows.
- Images must have been exposed after January 15, 2016.
- Image submissions must be digital.
- Image size limits are 1400 pixels wide by 1050 pixels high
- File naming convention is: image# – 14 – your competition number – title – .jpg
Example: 001-14-079-Steam Engine.jpg
- If you do not have a competition number call Carl Close at 309-274-5103 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Turn in deadline is December 6, 2016.
- Send up to 8 “Shadow” images to Rich Seeman at RLS1940@hotmail.com.
From all images submitted by our members, a PCC team will select 50 and enter them into the competition. If possible, every PCC member submitting images will have at least one image entered in the Challenge.
The judging by KodaRoamers is scheduled for January 14, 2017 at 1:00 PM. It will take place at the Normal Public Library, Community Room A at 206 College Ave, Normal, IL.
